For the first lesson, I typically assess a student's language ability through online quizzes. I will then tailor my lessons to the student's ability. For weaker students, emphasis is placed on understanding and using vocabulary. For stronger students, more emphasis is placed on critical thinking and answering techniques.
For subsequent lessons, I usually start off with going through homework assignments. I then conduct a revision of what was gone through in the previous lesson. The benefit of online lessons is that I can use different online tools and activities to conduct revision. Some of the tools I commonly use are quizlet, quizizz, gimkit and mindmeister. I try to promote student-centered learning, and incorporate many different activities throughout the lesson to hold the student's interest and to encourage them to take an active role in their learning.
